The jungle floor is covered in leaf litter. I usually search for color and contrast within the various shades of brown. Yesterday I found some in Piti.

Emerald Valley lone tree
We spent part of Labor Day in the Emerald Valley near Piti. The landscape has changed since Typhoon Mawar came and went. Now this tree stands alone.
The last of the light
We were walking out of the jungle when I spotted this shaft of light coming through the trees. It provided depth to an otherwise flat, green chaos.
A Sappy Closeup
While walking through the dark jungle, beams of light often break through and highlight the tiny details. In this case, I noticed a single drop of tree sap.
Finally finding an image
I walked past this scene in the jungle many times before attempting an image. There is a lot of chaos in the frame, but I think the beauty is also obvious.
The glowing jungle canopy
When photographing in the jungle, especially in harsh daylight, always look up. The glowing canopy provides color, shape, and texture. Don't miss it!
