Shooting with a classic
Several months ago I purchased a Minolta macro lens for my Sony system. It was produced sometime between 1986 and 1993. It still works beautifully!
Finding a little color
On a grey, overcast day in Piti, with brown leaf-litter covering the jungle floor, I searched for color. This tiny touch of yellow brightened my day!

I've tried to photograph this large stand of eucalyptus trees near the Masso Reservoir many times. Yesterday I discovered a composition worth sharing.

In a dark jungle, just after sunset, the leaves of this Maidenhair fern seemed almost to glow. It was worth stopping to capture them on my way to the car.
Wrapping up vacation

It’s coming together
This is one of the final images from my mahogany forest project. I've ordered sample prints and am now working on the preliminary book text and layout.

I've been on vacation for a week and my mahogany forest project is coming along nicely. Today I concentrated on broader scenes that provide context.
Vacation project
The mahogany forest in Piti has provided consistent photographic inspiration. I'm spending a portion of my vacation looking for intimate landscapes there.
