These common crustaceans on Guam grow and shed their old shells. I have never seen a more perfectly intact molt, which I found at Asan beach recently.

Nature and history
World war two era rusted metal and coral rock mingle together in the surf as they have since liberation. Rust has become a permanent part of this rock.

I made one of my favorite images of the year today. I had an unexpected (and short) walk on the beach locating subjects for a Found on the Beach series.
Much more water
Tarzan Falls is a slightly different experience when more water is flowing. It was a muddy hike to the bottom, but most images of the falls were better.
The Southern Mountains
We don't spend a lot of time on the southern part of the island. Today we were hiking at Fouha Bay and stopped to take in the southern mountain views.
Inside Pågat caves
After many hikes to this location, I made my first image inside Pågat caves. I opened the shutter for two seconds, illuminating the scene with headlamps.
It tells a story
I’m not convinced every image must “tell a story,” but some can’t help it. This sea-hibiscus has fallen on the hiking trail. You know the rest.
Reaching for the sea
Deborah and I spent part of a recent day off walking to the old Hila’an village site near Tumon. I stopped to photograph this unusual piece of driftwood.
Wrapping up vacation
