Devotional project complete

I have been studying scripture, writing, and producing audio devotionals for many years. They have been published on several domains, via a few podcast providers, and have varied in length. Their location and duration were standardized when I launched alwaysabounding.audio in 2016. Since then, it has been the home of “90-second messages highlighting Biblical principles and pointing listeners to Jesus Christ.”

The site has been revised, redesigned, and constantly edited through the years. Hundreds of audio pieces added and removed, some re-recorded, finally settling on a coherent and organized archive of 500 episodes; 250 from the Old Testament and 250 from the New Testament.

After working my way through 34 books of the Bible, I have decided the project is complete. My largest collection in the Old Testament is Psalms with 47 episodes. The largest New Testament collection is in John with 41 episodes. The Nahum archive has only three episodes and the book of Philemon, just one.

I have written about many important people, events, and ideas from the Bible. Topics mentioned most often were faith, salvation, sin, discipleship, and obedience. You’ll notice each piece has a Guam image attached. I have been happy with most of those. There are no repeats, which I wasn’t sure was possible when I began.

These devotionals will continue to air daily on Harvest Family Radio, Guam. The archive will remain on alwaysabounding.audio, and the long-form Bible teaching we began to publish there in 2023 will resume in 2024. A website re-design might also be in order for the new year.

This has been a rewarding exercise. It has required significant study and consideration of God’s word. Working through the details of Old Testament books like Nehemiah and Job has provided invaluable lessons for life. Examining the ministry of our Savior in Matthew and Luke has deepened my appreciation for His sacrifice. And maintaining the habit of writing about scripture has become a life-long pursuit.

When I began publishing online in 2005, I was uncomfortable expressing my own opinion alone. I knew it didn’t matter. If I was going to add something meaningful to the internet, I would have to focus on scripture, express only what it says, and apply it only in the way God allowed. I knew this was not a waste of time. That is why the I have spent all these years working on devotionals and other Bible teaching.

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

I Corinthians 15:58

I hope to do some other kinds of writing in the future. Many years of experience have made me less uncomfortable with expressing opinions, particularly in my professional fields of study. You can see all of that if you follow this site. I will likely address the local church, radio and podcasting, journalism, business, photography, web development, and learning. These are areas in which God has provided opportunities for me through the years.

It would be unwise of me to make promises on how much. My primary responsibilities remain at Harvest Baptist Church and KHMG. With that being said, I have several drafts started, so there should be few things coming in the near future.
