This is our first time at this location since the typhoon. On our last attempt, we turned back because of rain. Downed trees have made it a difficult hike.

Guam's jungle is chaotic and beautiful. I'm always trying to minimize the chaos, while capturing the beauty. This 2023 honorable mention almost does it.
A single bloom
Invasive and ubiquitous on Guam, I rarely photograph Chain of Love, but this fallen bloom was situated so uniquely it became a 2023 honorable mention.
A walk by the river
As a young adult, I spent many hours in this area on the Spokane River. Today's 2023 honorable mention is from a family trip to Washington this summer.

Emerald Valley lone tree
We spent part of Labor Day in the Emerald Valley near Piti. The landscape has changed since Typhoon Mawar came and went. Now this tree stands alone.
Striped sweat bee
My sister in-law's garden in Jefferson, Ohio provided a few interesting opportunities with the macro lens. I saw quite a few of these striped sweat bees.

The drive from Spokane, Washington to Dillon, Montana was one of the most beautiful I've ever taken. I captured this image when we stopped for a rest.
